ViziLite Plus oral lesion ID and marking system
ViziLite’s newest tool combines chemiluminescent light with Tolonium Chloride for identifying and marking oral lesions for further evaluation. ViziLite Plus makes cancer screening more comprehensive than ever. For more information, call (866) 945-2776 or e-mail [email protected].
The newest tool in the fight against oral disease is the ViziLite Plus oral lesion identification and marking system from Zila Pharmaceuticals. It combines the oral screening technology of ViziLite, an advanced chemiluminescent light technology to help detect oral abnormalities, with TBlue630™, a marking system using Zila® Tolonium Chloride (ZTC™), the only patented pharmaceutical-grade form of toluidine blue that has been cleared by the FDA for use in marking lesions identified during a ViziLite examination.
ViziLite Plus makes oral screening more comprehensive than ever before, and is indicated for use in individuals at increased risk of oral cancer. If ViziLite reveals an abnormality, TBlue630 can be used to mark suspicious lesions for further evaluation.

VELscope® oral mucosal examination device
LED Dental, Inc. announces that it has been granted FDA 510(k) clearance to market its Visually Enhanced Lesion Scope - or VELscope - oral mucosal examination device. The VELscope system consists of a light source and direct-viewing handpiece used during oral cancer and mucosal screenings as part of routine dental hygiene visits on all adult patients. The device utilizes a narrow band of high-energy blue light and specialized filter technology to help evaluate oral mucosa for abnormal areas of concern, such as potentially cancerous lesions that may be undetectable under white light.
VELscope’s technology was proven effective in clinical trials conducted by the British Columbia Cancer Agency (BCCA) and financed in part by more than $50 million in grants from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, part of the National Institutes of Health, a U.S. government-funded agency.
Shipping in late June, VELscope will be available through Patterson, Sullivan-Schein, Benco, and Burkhart. For more information, call LED Dental at (604) 541-4614 or visit www.velscope.com.
New Miltex Contact Perfect™ matrix bands
Contact Perfect is a revolutionary posterior composite matrix system that produces predictable, naturally contoured contacts. There is no need for aggressive wedging; therefore, the risk of hyper-occlusion and patient sensitivity is reduced. This innovative product features a patent-pending design with removable interproximal “windows.” By removing the interproximal barrier, Contact Perfect matrix bands expose the composite resin and allow it to make direct contact with the adjacent tooth, forming tight contacts and natural contours. They are fast and easy to place with a Tofflemire retainer.
Contact Perfect matrix bands are available in three different styles: Universal 2-surface, Bicuspid 3-surface, and Molar 3-surface bands. They are offered in a 24 pack and include chairside instructions. An introductory pack of 12 also is available.

Sani-Hands® for Kids
To promote the importance of hand hygiene and in an effort to reduce absenteeism, PDI® introduces Sani-Hands for Kids Antimicrobial Alcohol Gel Hand Wipes. Available for use in schools, day care, camps, children’s hospitals, physician and dental offices, homes, cafeterias, restaurants, and recreational facilities, they help reduce the risk of cross-contamination and infection. This parent- and kid-friendly product contains emollients such as aloe, glycerin, and Vitamin E to minimize the drying effects of alcohol and moisturize the skin. The wipes are more effective than gels because of the natural friction caused by the wiping action, an important function that rub-in alcohol hand washes alone cannot achieve.
Easy and fun to use, Sani-Hands for Kids are proven to kill 99.99% of germs, and are available in 220- and 135-count canisters and individual “on-the-go” packets. For more information, visit www.pdipdi.com.
Pulpdent offers patient brochure on sealants
Pulpdent Corporation, manufacturer of Embrace™ WetBond™ Pit and Fissure Sealant, is offering an informative patient brochure that promotes patient education, oral health, and also serves as a practice builder. The new brochure explains how sealants are applied and why they work. Frequently asked questions such as “When should teeth be sealed?” and “How long will the sealants last?” are answered. Illustrations show how the fast, easy, painless procedure is performed.
It includes a brief summary of a clinical study to demonstrate the success of Embrace sealant use. The study showed that after a minimum of two years, none of the 1,102 teeth had developed caries on the sealed surfaces. Embrace is the first sealant resin that can be applied to moist teeth. It integrates with tooth structure, forming a margin-free interface that virtually eliminates microleakage.
The Pulpdent Sealant Brochure is available upon request. Simply call Pulpdent at (800) 343-4342 or request via e-mail at [email protected], subject: sealant brochure.

Bisco’s 9.5% buffered hydrofluoric acid gel
Bisco Dental Products announces the availability of its 9.5% PORCELAIN ETCHANT, a buffered hydrofluoric acid gel. It saves time and improves the adhesive bond to porcelain, increasing the surface area of porcelain with an effect similar to sandblasting, but producing more controlled and effective results. It will microscopically roughen porcelain and glass surfaces.
PORCELAIN ETCHANT is now available in two concentrations - 9.5% (to reduce etching time) and 4% (for more traditional use). Use either product to etch porcelain veneers, crowns, inlays, and onlays prior to cementation or for the repair of porcelain restorations.
This product is sold with Bisco’s BARRIER GEL which is used where etching is not desired. Both products also are sold in individual 5 g syringes. To order or for more information, call (800) 247-3368 or visit www.bisco.com.
OrthoClear launches OrthoTouch™ technology
OrthoClear, Inc., the maker of “The Next Generation in Invisible Orthodontics” announced the launch of its OrthoTouch technology at the 106th Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO). OrthoTouch technology uses motion-sensing gloves to enable clinicians to maneuver a patient’s 3-D dental image. The gloves provide five-finger feedback to the clinician’s desktop, which translates to specific tooth movements. Currently, doctors who treat patients with clear aligners are limited to using a standard computer screen and mouse to interact with and control a patient’s 3-D model. OrthoTouch provides OrthoClear doctors with the ability to interact with their patients’ OrthoView digital models using specially designed gloves and a holographic display that provides true 3-D visualization.
OrthoTouch provides an unprecedented level of accuracy and interactivity that approaches that of working directly in a patient’s mouth.

The SMART MOVES Exercise Program sells for $99.95 and includes a 20-minute exercise DVD or VHS, Theraband and door anchor, Swiss Ball, instruction manual, and exercise cue card. It may be ordered at www.posturedontics.com or by calling (503) 291-5121.
