Halloween is an excellent opportunity to post great content on your practice’s social media sites. Here are 10 ideas for this year’s Halloween postings:
1. Halloween treats gone wrong. Share this video from Crest on your social sites. It’s a funny commercial where the kids’ candy is replaced with super healthy treats. Artichoke buttercups anyone? Visit https://goo.gl/7JDFgy.
2. Pumpkin carving stencils. The ADA provides PDFs of these stencils along with fun Halloween activities and coloring sheets. Visit goo.gl/UUsvqO.
3. Costume contest. Host a contest on social media inviting patients to dress up for Halloween in their best dental-related costume. Patients post their pictures on social and tag the office to be entered to win. Give away prizes to the first-, second-, and third-place winners.
4. Candy buy-back. Promote healthy candy alternatives by hosting a candy buy-back on social media. Encourage patients to bring their candy to the office in exchange for cash (per pound), coupons, toothbrushes, and creative exchanges.
5. Guess how many. Put a jar of “rotten witches teeth” (AKA candy corn) in a glass jar at your front desk. Ask patients to guess how many teeth are in the jar to be entered to win. Patients can guess online or in the office.
6. Avoid cavities this Halloween. Share this super cute video from the Virginia Dental Association on how to avoid cavities this Halloween, or create your own similar video for social. Visit http://bit.ly/1oRul3B.
7. Dentist confess. Create a video of the staff confessing what they give out for Halloween. Here’s a video from the ADA you could share. Visit https://goo.gl/KPL61i.
8. Dress up like the dentist. Have the office staff dress up like the dentist on Halloween. Post pictures and video online. Ask your patients what they think.
9. Tell a Halloween dental joke. Why did the vampire need mouthwash? Because he had Bat Breath. Want more bad Halloween dental jokes? Visit these Pinterest ideas: https://goo.gl/sMA1Lw.
10. Dress up as the tooth fairy. Want to get patients to engage with you online? Get doc to dress up like the tooth fairy and post pictures of it. Need the costume? Pick one of many on Amazon. Visit https://goo.gl/qNh6PT.
