Dental Network of America, Philips sign agreement

Two to offer Sonicare products to dental providers.

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illnois--Dental Network of America and Philips Consumer Lifestyle Company, a division of Philips Electronics North America Corporation, have signed an agreement that allows DNoA to offer its "DNoA Preferred Network" dentists in Illinois, Oklahoma and New Mexico more than 50% discounts on their Sonicare product line.

The agreement was effective Jan. 1, 2009.

"Partnering with Philips on offering the Sonicare technology was a perfect fit for us," quoted Dr. Timothy Custer, dental director for DNoA, the claims and network administrator for all Health Care Service Corporation dental programs.

As a compliment to the Philips partnership, DNoA launched a dental wellness program in January 2008 that provides members the educational tools and information needed to make better oral-care decisions and influence daily behavior.

DNoA also proactively identifies high-risk members and performs targeted interventions that continue to influence their oral-care behavior. This Sonicare offering strengthens this message.

Sonicare toothbrushes, inspired by the sonic technology used in the dental offices, have cleaning action to reduce plaque along the gum line.

"Dentists have long known that certain patients are more at risk for periodontal disease and dental caries than others," added Custer. "What better way to offer the benefits of improved oral health for our members than through the providers themselves."

According to Philips, Sonicare is clinically proven to remove significantly more plaque than a manual toothbrush, and clinically proven to reduce gingivitis and improve overall gum health.
