Clem named AAP President

Donald S. Clem, III, DDS, of Fullerton, Calif., installed as President of the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees.
CHICAGO, Illinois--Donald S. Clem, III, DDS, of Fullerton, Calif., was installed as President of the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees Oct. 29-Nov. 2, 2010, during its 96th annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.An AAP member since 1982, Dr. Clem previously served on the Board of Trustees as president elect in 2010, vice president in 2009, and secretary/treasurer in 2008. In addition to the Board of Trustees, Dr. Clem has served on multiple academy committee’s and task forces, including the Strategic Planning Committee, Education Committee, and the Editorial Liaison Committee. He was President of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation in 2003. Dr. Clem is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, and a Past President of the California Society of Periodontists.“Dr. Clem has been an invaluable member of the Board of Trustees for many years. Under his leadership and guidance as President, I believe that both the AAP and the field of periodontics will continue to progress.” said Academy Immediate Past President Dr. Samuel Low.Added Dr. Clem: “I am eager to take on my role as President of the AAP. This is an integral time for the specialty of periodontics, and I am excited to lead the Academy, our members and our specialty into the future."Dr. Clem received his dental degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago in 1980, and his specialty training in periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio in 1984.
