Donald S. Clem, III, DDS, completes his tenure as president of the American Academy of Periodontology.
CHICAGO, Illinois--Donald S. Clem, III, DDS, of Fullerton, Calif., completed his tenure as president of the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees at its 97th annual meeting Nov. 12-15, 2011, in Miami Beach, Fla. Dr. Clem will assume the role of immediate past president.An AAP member since 1982, Dr. Clem has served on multiple academy committees and task forces, including the Strategic Planning Committee, Education Committee, and the Editorial Liaison Committee. He was president of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation in 2003. Dr. Clem is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a past president of the California Society of Periodontists.Special day brings diabetes to attention of the world“Dr. Clem has been an integral member of the Board of Trustees for many years,” said 2012 Academy President Dr. Pamela McClain. "Under his leadership and guidance, the academy experienced great success and progression. I hope to follow his example in leading both the AAP and the field of periodontics in the year to come."Dr. Clem received his dental degree from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago, Ill., in 1980, and his specialty training in periodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio in 1984.
