Sunstar Americas Inc. has announced the launch of new Gum Hydral dry mouth relief products. Gum Hydral features advanced moisturizing and hydrating ingredients that work like natural saliva for multisymptom relief.
The line is being introduced to address a clear patient need, as most dry mouth sufferers wish they had a better treatment option to treat their dry mouth condition (source: Gallup 2017 study of dry mouth). Seventy percent of dry mouth sufferers who tried the new Sunstar offering reported the Gum Hydral formulation is better than their current dry mouth remedies (source: Nielsen BASES Product Advisor #153323, May 2019).
Available without prescription, the product is the only offering that combines
- hyaluronic acid (as sodium hyaluronate), a high-viscosity humectant that has exceptional lubricating properties;
- the humectant betaine;
- taurine (amino acid) to help maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance; and
- polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), a lubricant that forms a protective film over the mouth mucosa.
The unique combination of these ingredients provides deep moisturizing relief at the tissue level and soothes the oral mucosa.

- Gum Hydral Oral Gel, ideal for night-time relief; and
- Gum Hydral Anti-Cavity Toothpaste, with soothing natural ingredients such as aloe vera and bisabolol, which is naturally present in chamomile.
The low-irritation formula is designed specifically for sensitive mucosa and uses a blend of three sugar-free sweeteners for an improved taste experience. Gum Hydral does not contain irritants such as sodium lauryl sulfate, alcohol, or strong flavors. It also does not contain milk or egg derivatives, which is of importance to patients with certain allergies.
