A NEW INSTRUMENT SHARPENING SYSTEM is available for dental hygienists. With the One Ten Sharpening System from DH Cubed LLC, hygienists receive online training in the theory and practice of sharpening, along with the One Ten, a device that gives instant feedback during sharpening, so instruments are sharpened correctly and quickly.
The One Ten Sharpening System is used by dental hygiene schools, but it can also be used by practicing hygienists who wish to improve their skills. No other sharpening devices provide the training and feedback necessary to insure instruments are sharpened properly all day, every day.
Dull instruments require hygienists to apply too much pressure or maintain an unnatural hand and wrist position, both of which can cause pain after a full day of appointments. In addition to reducing pain, sharp instruments help to improve the patient experience.
Practicing hygienists who have tried the instrument sharpening system have reported that the system has reduced their pain, improved their posture, and saved them time.
"The One Ten Sharpening System is designed to allow hygienists to sharpen their instruments with precision, which in turn perfects their clinical skills and prevents pain and injury," said Deborah McGlynn, RDH, BS, DH Cubed cofounder and chief education officer. "Too many hygienists leave our profession too early. DH Cubed intends to change that statistic by reaching dental hygiene students and practicing hygienists. If we can reach them early, our goal is for hygienists to enjoy their careers longer."
The One Ten and all DH Cubed online training modules follow the same regimen taught in dental hygiene schools. When attached to a dental sharpening stone, the One Ten will light up at the proper angle for sharpening. Online training will be available for universal curettes, sickle scalers, Gracey curettes, and toe and recontour instruments. DH Cubed training modules can be used to fulfill continuing education requirements.
The One Ten Sharpening System comes with all the accessories needed to begin using it. For more information, visit dhcubed.com/2017/oneten.
