The oral health care crisis that exists in America affects our kids the most. Nearly half of all kindergartners go to school with at least one cavity, and millions of children in the U.S. don’t have dental insurance.

New York dentist Dr. Lee Gause, along with his brother, is working to remedy this situation. Years ago, in North Carolina, they watched their mother – also a dentist – barter dental work for vegetables. In an effort to create the same kind of opportunity in a modern way, they’re selling art to fund dental work.

Called Smile Design Galleries, 100 percent of the proceeds from the artwork sold go to fund dentistry for needy children.

Soon, Dr. Lee hopes to open these galleries around the country in order to make a small, but important, impact on those without access to care.

In the past year, $100,000 worth of artwork has been sold, providing free dental work to around 400 people.
