Gayle Glenn, DDS, MSD, a Dallas orthodontist, has been elected the 2012-13 president-elect of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the oldest and largest dental specialty organization in the world. The election was held recently during the AAO’s 112thth Annual Session in Honolulu. Dr. Glenn will become AAO president in May 2013.
“The AAO is an outstanding professional organization, leading the advance of the specialty of orthodontics in innumerable ways, and helping to ensure the best possible treatment for orthodontic patients,” said Dr. Glenn. “With an increasingly diverse population, meeting the evolving needs of patients and the AAO members who care for them is an ongoing challenge for the AAO. I am honored to be part of the AAO’s service to orthodontic patients and to AAO members,” Dr. Glenn said.
Dr. Glenn was elected in 2004 by the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists (SWSO) as its representative on the AAO Board of Trustees. The SWSO serves AAO members practicing in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and the portion of Louisiana west of the Mississippi River.
During the AAO’s 2011-12 fiscal year, Dr. Glenn served on several of the AAO Board of Trustees’ committees, including the executive committee, the budget advisory committee and the governing documents task force.
Dr. Glenn is an experienced leader in organized dentistry and orthodontics. She is a past president of the SWSO and the Texas Association of Orthodontists (TAO). She previously served as a member of the AAO House of Delegates, and represented the SWSO on the AAO Council on Orthodontic Practice. On the state level, Dr. Glenn served on the Council on Membership of the Texas Dental Association (TDA).
In addition to her AAO and SWSO memberships, Dr. Glenn is a member of the American Dental Association, the TAO, the Greater Dallas Association of Orthodontists, the Texas Orthodontic Study Club, the TDA, the Dallas County Dental Society and the American Association of Women Dentists. She is also active in the American Association of University Women and the American Business Women’s Association.
Dr. Glenn earned her DDS at the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio. She completed her orthodontic education, earning an MSD, at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. Dr. Glenn is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and is a Fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
Dr. Glenn has offices in Dallas and Richardson, Texas. She resides in Dallas.
