Hygienists give back to the community

Scouting organization bestows award on two adult leaders in Michigan.

Amy Olender, RDH, and Rose Caruso, RDH, were awarded the Ottawa District/Clinton Valley Council's Trailblazer Award at the District's annual "Volunteer Celebration," held Saturday evening, March 24, 2007.

The Trailblazer Award is bestowed upon those adult leaders of Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Venturing programs who have made a significant impact on the success of their units. Amy and Rose, both hygienists in the dental office of Jeffery Daws, DDS, in Livonia, Mich., were recognized for their dedication, giving tirelessly of their time and talent to Venturing Crew 18. The Crew's programming centers upon outdoor adventures and community service.

Venturing is the high school-age co-educational program of the Boy Scouts of America. Members of Venturing Crew 18 attend the Frankel Jewish Academy and Detroit Country Day School.
