ST. LOUIS — Gayle Glenn, DDS, MSD, a Dallas orthodontist, has been elected by the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists (SWSO) to serve as its representative on the American Association of Orthodontists' (AAO) Board of Trustees. The SWSO serves AAO members practicing in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and the portion of Louisiana west of the Mississippi River. The AAO is the oldest and largest dental specialty organization in the world. The announcement was made recently during the AAO's 104th Annual Session in Orlando, Fla.

"I am honored to follow the legacy of dedicated leaders from the SWSO. The AAO is a strong national organization which serves as an important advocate for orthodontics. I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the AAO Board as the SWSO Trustee," said Dr. Glenn.

Dr. Glenn graduated from the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio and completed her orthodontic training at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas. She resides in Dallas. She has a background in membership issues through her service on the AAO Council on Orthodontic Practice and the Council on Membership of the Texas Dental Association.

"The face of orthodontics is changing. The AAO membership is much more diverse today than it was 100 years ago. The challenge for the AAO is to continue to meet the evolving needs of our members. I hope to bring a slightly different perspective to the AAO Board of Trustees," Dr. Glenn said.

Dr. Glenn is active in organized dentistry, orthodontics, and the community. In addition to her AAO and SWSO membership, she is a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Association of Orthodontists, the Greater Dallas Association of Orthodontists, the Charles H. Tweed Orthodontic Group of Texas, the Dallas County Dental Society, the Oak Cliff Dental Study Club, and the American Association of Women Dentists. She is also active in the American Association of University Women and the American Business Women's Association.
