Dental Select to Help Make Organ Transplants a Reality Through

Oct. 29, 2001
Dental exams help eliminate dental-related infections and increase the chances of successful organ transplants.

Dental Select, Utah's largest dental benefits provider, announces a sponsorship with the National Kidney Foundation of Utah. Through this sponsorship, Dental Select will provide dental benefits to all organ transplant recipients and dialysis patients residing in Utah at no charge for one full year.

Medical guidelines require transplant recipients to have a complete dental exam prior to any transplant procedure. Dental exams help eliminate dental-related infections and increase the chances of successful organ transplants.

The dental benefits offered by Dental Select will allow recipients and

dialysis patients to receive dental exams at no charge. The dental benefits will also provide them with considerable discounts on most required dental treatments.

"Less than 5 percent of dialysis patients in Utah even have dental benefits," said Deen Vetterli, Executive Director of the National Kidney Foundation of Utah. "Dental Select is helping our organization to fill a critical void.

Without this service, it would be very difficult for most patients to ever get the transplants they need."

"By providing dental benefits at no charge, we hope to alleviate any

financial strain the dental exam and any resulting dental treatments may place on transplant recipients and their family members who lack dental benefits," said Brent Williams, CEO of Dental Select.

As the largest dental benefits provider in Utah, Dental Select has over 12 years of experience providing dental plans for small and large groups, families, and individuals. Dental Select has more than 160,000 members in Utah and Texas and provides dental benefits to companies ranging in size from 2 to 7,000 employees. Web site: www.dentalselect.com.
