PacifiCare Dental, a provider of dental plans for employers and plan sponsors in the West, has announced the introduction of its new 900 Series Dental HMO Plans.

Designed to focus on affordability for employers, the series of five dental HMO (DHMO) plans offer more premium levels and additional services not previously covered, including anesthesia and adult fluoride treatments. The 900 Series Dental HMO plans also offer no limits on specialty referrals.

"Dental coverage is a key benefit that helps employers retain and recruit the best workers, so we understand the importance of developing benefit plans to meet the needs of employees," said John Whalley, vice president of sales and account management for PacifiCare Dental. "As one of the first dental HMO plans in California, we are offering our new DHMO plans with emphasis on the value of prevention in keeping employees healthier while helping manage the costs of routine and major dental services. With our 900 Series plans, members have access to one of the largest dental provider networks of carefully screened and regularly audited dental offices."

In addition, PacifiCare Dental uses a proprietary Dental Practice Profile to measure the performance of its dental HMO network dentists on 63 different criteria related to service, including access, quality of care and overall patient satisfaction, to ensure that caregivers are customer focused and committed to continuous improvement.
