7th Annual Disease Management Congress and Exposition to convene in Chicago

The nation's largest gathering of healthcare professionals focused on disease management will meet in September

The National Managed Health Care Congress (NMHCC) announced today the names of leaders in the field who will be addressing the nation's largest gathering of healthcare professionals focused on disease management at the 7th Annual Disease Management Congress and Exposition, September 18-20, 2002 in Chicago.

"According to the Institute of Medicine, today's health care providers have more research findings and more technology available to them than ever before, yet recent reports question the quality of health care in America," said Lynne Crowley, Disease Management Congress Program Director. "This is especially true in disease management. We at NMHCC are offering an exciting program will bring all groups together to explore ways to close that gap in disease management. By bringing together industry leaders and peers from all segments of the industry, we provide a common ground to come together with solutions."

The Disease Management Congress will focus on quality themes from employers, providers, health plans, government, pharmaceutical companies and vendors. In addition, the Congress will focus on disease states including asthma, diabetes, cardiovascular, behavioral health, oncology, pain, women's health and complementary healthcare. Within the sessions, directives from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Report, "Crossing the Quality Chasm," including Baldridge, safety, leadership, quality improvement, comorbidities, patient satisfaction, Six Sigma, evidence based medicine, innovation, effectiveness, performance excellence, efficiency and cost savings will be explored.

Educational Sessions

Over three days, more than 50 educational sessions will explore the facts and fallacies of ROI, the value of genomics, evidence-based medicine, patient-centered care, the power of technology and more. In-depth workshops, interactive roundtables and new satellite symposia will be offered, covering in-depth innovations in disease management, predictive modeling and ways to leverage technology, among other key topics.
