Academy announces staffing promotions, hirings

The Academy of General Dentistry makes staff changes, additions.

CHICAGO-- The Academy of General Dentistry has announced staffing promotions as well as additions designed to enhance the quality of effective and efficient services AGD provides to more than 35,000 members.

"We are excited to have these individuals join our team and bring their
knowledge and experience to help further the work of our organization to
advance the value and excellence in general dentistry," said Christie
Tarantino, CAE, AGD's executive director.

"In addition, we are always pleased when we can reward staff members for
their hard work and acknowledge their contributions to the AGD," said
Tarantino. "They, along with our newest team members, will help us continue
to enhance the services we provide to our members and to strengthen our
position in the organized dentistry marketplace."

Melisa Biskup, Assistant, Governance
The AGD recently hired Biksup as the Governance Assistant. In this
position, Biskup will provide a wide variety of administrative tasks, in
addition to fulfilling specific Executive Committee, Board of Trustees
and House of Delegates-related responsibilities. She will be
responsible for coordinating arrangements for BOT and EC meetings,
developing special reports for executive analysis and reviewing BOT minutes
for policy changes and updates to policy manuals.

Prior to joining the AGD, Biskup completed an internship at Rush Oak Park
Hospital in Anesthesia and Pain Management. She received her bachelors in
Biology and Chemistry in May 2006 from Dominican University.

Stephanie Blankenship, Coordinator, Membership Marketing
Blankenship was recently promoted to serve as the Coordinator of Membership
Marketing. She will aid in the planning and development of membership
recruitment and retention activities. She will also implement these
activities, which include revising marketing brochures, newsletters,
membership content for the AGD Web site and other promotional material. She
will also be responsible for coordinating the development of topics, scripts
and materials for membership-related aspects of the Leadership Conference.

Karen McCartan, Manager, Membership Operations
McCartan recently joined the AGD to serve as the Membership Operations
Manager. In her new position, she will be responsible for supervision and
training of the Membership Services staff in all aspects of member and
customer service. Those areas include the AGD's association management
system, iMis, processing and fulfillment of product requests and processing
of membership applications. She will also oversee billing, collecting and
processing of membership applications.

McCartan joins the AGD from the Council on Adult and Experiential Learning, where she was a Project Director. In that position, McCartan served
as manager and consultant on tuition assistance programs for several large
corporations, including two Fortune 50 companies.

Stefanie Schroeder, Specialist, Public Relations
AGD recently hired Schroeder to serve as Public Relations Specialist.
Schroeder will provide public relations, media relations and administrative
support for national and local public awareness efforts. Schroeder will
also serve as primary contact for the AGD's Fellowship and Mastership media
relations campaign and will coordinate volunteers for the SmileLine online,
AGD's dental health message board.

Prior to AGD, Schroeder completed internships with Liggett-Stashower Public
Relations, the Lockheed Martin Corporation, Euro RSCG Magnet and Flash
Communications. Schroeder received a Bachelor of Science degree in public
relations from Kent State University in Ohio.
