Dentalworkers.com finds jobs for victims of Hurricane Katrina
The online employment resource exclusive to the dental industry is reaching out to help dental professionals who lost their jobs to Hurricane Katrina.
Dentalworkers.com, which is widely recognized for matching its free resume posting from prospective dental employees and classified job ad placements for employers, already has listed nearly 40 positions for dental assistants, lab technicians, dental hygienists and dentists. One dentist from Louisiana who lost his practice due to the Hurricane also has posted his resume.
Cathy Price, Dentalworkers.com president, said helping hurricane survivors reclaim their careers is her organization's top priority.
"Our hearts go out to hurricane survivors who have lost everything," Price said. "This is the time to pull together as a dental team and work together in order to make things better. There are many displaced dentists, dental students and dental team members who need to relocate and find jobs. They have lost everything and need transportation, temporary housing and a job. Dentalworkers.com is working with other dental organizations to make sure they get the help they need as quickly as possible."
Employers who can provide transportation, temporary housing and a job for a dental team member affected by Hurricane Katrina should e-mail Dentalworkers.com at [email protected]. In the e-mail, state the company name, contact person, e-mail address, phone number and best time to call.
A Dentalworkers staff member will contact each employer before posting a job ad and searching for appropriate resumes from survivors. Dentalworkers will then furnish matching resumes for employers to review so that they can arrange their own interviews. This service will be provided for free to all employers who wish to help displaced dental professionals.
Dental team members, lab technicians and displaced dentists who are seeking employment due to Hurricane Katrina can post their resumes for free at http://www.dentalworkers.com. They should include the fact that they are hurricane survivors and need to relocate in the objective section of their resumes. Dentalworkers.com also will post licensure information as updates become available for displaced hygienists and dentists that need to relocate from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
Dentalworkers.com is the official job web site of the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA), The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB), the American Society of Dental Assistants (ASDA), the American Orthodontic Society (AOS) and the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD).
