SECAUCAS, New Jersey--Vatech America, maker of dental imaging equipment, has announced winning a 2010 Medical Design Excellence Award for dental instruments, equipment, and supplies.

This award, presented by Canon Communications, honors companies in the medical technology field for outstanding achievements.

Commenting on the competition, Dan Cutrone, director of marketing at Canon Communications said, "The MDEA competition recognizes the achievements of medical product manufacturers and the many people behind the scenes--engineers, scientists, designers and clinicians--who are responsible for the groundbreaking innovations that are changing the face of health care."

Vatech America won the 2010 MDEA award for the PaX-Reve3D Dental CT, which realizes the Free FOV function to extend areas of diagnosis. In addition to this fully customizable FOV, the PaX-Reve3D offers small voxel size, enhanced image quality, low X-ray dosage, and Metal Artifact Remove technology.

These features, combined with advanced software systems, enable users to freely select the region of interest and size the FOV accordingly, based on the need or purpose of diagnosis. This improves the accuracy and efficiency of a diagnosis without unnecessary radiographic interpretation of pathology.

"We are excited to have won such a prestigious award, and are proud of the advances our team continues to make in dental CT technology" said Yoon Park, president of Vatech America.

"The revolutionary thinking and innovative spirit this award represents are the core principles that allow Vatech America to offer every dental practice endless possibilities to achieve higher standards in dental treatments around the globe."

The MDEA competition is open worldwide to companies and individuals involved in the design, engineering, manufacture, or distribution of medical devices or medical packaging.

The type of award (silver or gold) that will be presented to each winner will not be revealed until the awards ceremony, which will take place at 11 a.m. June 9, 2010, in New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The awards ceremony will occur in conjunction with the Medical Design & Manufacturing East Exposition & Conference, which will be held June 8 to June 10.
