The Board of Directors of CR Foundation (formerly CRA) and the Clinicians Report publications are pleased to announce the appointment of Paul L. Child Jr., DMD, CDT, to the office of Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Child succeeds director and cofounder Rella P. Christensen, PhD, who has led the organization for 27 years. Dr. Rella Christensen will continue to conduct nonprofit, in-depth research on a full-time basis. Dr. Child will be working with CR executives and staff, including co-founder Gordon J. Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD, who is now serving as volunteer senior consultant for the organization.
Dr. Child will further the organizational mission to provide unbiased, pragmatic research reports and to conduct the popular CR Dentistry Update continuing education courses in conjunction with Drs. Gordon and Rella Christensen.
Dr. Child shares the Christensens' vision of research and reporting of findings to the dental profession as one of the premier methods to share information. Dr. Child is practicing at the CR facility in Utah as part of his responsibility to validate in-house and field research findings.
Gordon Christensen recently stated, "There is a continuing and greater need to evaluate dental materials, devices, concepts, and techniques in a nonbiased, noncommercial manner than there was when CRA was initiated 30 years ago."
Dr. Child shares this view and brings his perspective to the organization.
Dr. Child is a prosthodontist, a graduate from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, and a certified dental technician--an accomplishment he achieved while completing his prosthodontic residency at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry.
He has received many awards and scholarships and is a member of the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He has served in numerous leadership positions in dentistry, his church, and the community.
Some of Dr. Child's memberships also include: American Dental Association, American College of Prosthodontics, International College of Prosthodontics, Academy of Osseointegration, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Academy of General Dentistry, and International Association for Dental Research.
With the Christensens' and the Board of Directors' full approval, Dr. Child assumed CEO duties July 1, 2008. He has demonstrated a capacity to lead the organization. Dr. Gordon Christensen has stated that Dr. Child's characteristics and achievements remind him of himself when he began his dental career.
"I am both humbled and excited about the opportunity to lead CR," stated Dr. Child. "Working with Gordon Christensen is an incredibly rewarding experience, as is the opportunity to continue the mission Gordon and Rella began so many years ago. I am honored to be a part of Clinicians Report."
