PDI donates supplies to provide dental care to underprivileged children
Continuing in its mission to prevent infections in health-care environments, Professional Disposables International, Inc. will support Give Kids a Smile, a one-day program that provides underprivileged children with free dental care.
By partnering with Henry Schien, a leading distributor of health-care products, PDI will help supply dental product kits to the more than 2,000 participating sites. Each kit will contain enough items to serve 50 children. This year, Give Kids a Smile Day is scheduled for Feb. 6, 2009.
"We are pleased to support this important initiative that services the children of low-income families," says PDI Senior Director of Marketing Joann Reilly. "PDI is known as an infection prevention leader and this donation recognizes the efforts the dental market is making to fight infection in the exam and waiting rooms."
Since it's inception in February 2003, more than seven million children have been treated by Give Kids a Smile. The American Dental Association created the program as a way to spread awareness of widespread oral disease affecting children from low-income families and to build support for solutions that will help these children get regular oral health care.
