Dear Colleague:

Today the IRS published the final rule on the implementation of the medical device tax. You may find the full text here. You may also find additional IRS guidance which discusses specific issues including convenience kits. We have just begun reading the final rule and will provide more information soon.

DTA is sponsoring a webinar on the medical device tax next Wednesday, December 13th. You can get more information and register for the webinar here.

If you have questions for the speakers to answer during the webinar we ask that you forward those through the registration process as soon as possible.

As we analyze the IRS rule on medical devices, we are fighting in Congress to have the tax repealed. Some members of the Senate are indicating their support for delaying the tax. The fate of the medical device tax is tied to the debate on the ‘fiscal cliff,’ taxes and program cuts. DTA continues to fight for elimination of the tax. We continue to maintain that dental businesses will not benefit from the health reform law. For dental companies this remains an unfair tax.
