Called 11 practices. Made contact with an answering service representative for 3 practices. Left messages to have a doctor return my call at 5 practices.

Spoke with Lynn Ayers, office manager at practice of Dr. Grant Skalnik. Here is her summary of the situation:

Dr. Skalnik’s practice is open today but Dr. Skalnik is out of town and is scheduled to return on Monday.

Dr. Skalnik’s practice did not suffer damage from the April 27 tornado but had suffered previous roof damage from a storm that hit Tuscaloosa on April 15.

Tornado that swept through Tuscaloosa April 27 was approximately 3 miles north of Dr. Skalnik’s practice.

Ayers indicated that the tornado traveled down 15th Street, which is located between the University of Alabama campus and University Mall.

Ayers indicated that 3 dental practices located on 15th Street had been destroyed by the tornado. She said these were the practices of Dr. Rodney Goins, Dr. Catherine Griggs and another location that was formerly the home of the practice for Dr. E.K. Woods. Another doctor now operates a practice at this location.

Ayers said there was heavy damage located at the intersections of 15th Street and Hwy. 82 in Tuscaloosa.

Ayers has been office manager for Dr. Skalnik for approximately 3.5 years. The practice has been in its current location at 6525 Old Greensboro Road for approximately 6 years.
