OraVital Inc. recently hired Lisa Wadsworth, RDH, BS/Psy, as a consultant to lead its newly-launched United States hygiene educator program.

Wadsworth will oversee the company’s efforts to recruit and train qualified American dental hygienists on how to promote and implement the OraVital System for the diagnosis and treatment of the oral infections that cause periodontal disease, halitosis, peri-implantitis, and caries.

Dr. James Hyland, OraVital’s CEO, said, “The hygienist as advocate and educator model has worked extremely well for us in Canada, and Lisa’s clinical and corporate experience will be instrumental in helping us expand our network of certified, well-trained clinics in the United States.”

Wadsworth, who has worked as a hygiene educator and clinical coach, commented on her new appointment, “After receiving hands-on training in Dr. Hyland’s office, and visiting OraVital’s state-of-the-art lab, I’m convinced that the OraVital System will have a positive impact on the oral health and total health of our patients. I’m very excited to be part of OraVital’s expansion into the US dental market.”

Wadsworth is the founder of Lisa C. Wadsworth Inc., a business focused on coaching and education for the entire dental team on periodontal protocol, oral-systemic health links, implant dentistry, and ergonomics. She began her career as a dental assistant, progressed to a certification in implant surgical assisting, a degree in dental hygiene, and a bachelor’s in psychology.

OraVital hygiene educators will receive comprehensive online training and phone coaching that covers the following areas:

  • The incidence, risk, and symptoms of oral infection
  • The science behind OraVital’s advanced BioFilmDNA and BioFilmGS (Gram stain) microbial testing and the need for accurate diagnosis
  • The science and efficacy of Oravital’s personalized regimen of prescribed antibiotic/antifungal and antimicrobial rinses.
  • Integration of the OraVital System into an existing periodontal treatment protocol
  • How the OraVital System minimizes oral-systemic health risks
  • Patient education for case acceptance and compliance

When OraVital hygiene educators completes training, they will become independent contractors at prospective OraVital Certified Clinics and also provide ongoing clinical education support after clinic certification. The hygiene educators are compensated via a combination of hourly pay combined with a variety of practice performance incentives. In addition, online inquiries, trade show leads, etc. will be forwarded to OraVital hygiene educators according to their geographic location.

This program is open to all US-based dental hygienists, preferably those working part time in a clinical setting. This opportunity is only available to those hygienists who are not currently working as hygiene educators for companies focused on the diagnosis and/or treatment of periodontal disease, halitosis, peri-implantitis and caries.
