New Web site for dental workers attracts record number of hits
Dental professionals throughout the United States are rushing to check out Dentalworkers' new Website, which attracted a record-setting 28,000 hits in May.
Dentalworkers.com, the on-line employment service where workers post resumes for free and employers post job ads, is exclusive to the dental industry. The site now offers dental professionals the same services that a large job board, such as Monster.com, provides. New features include resume and ad management options.
Cathy Price, Dentalworkers.com president, says while the site has a fresh look and new tools, it remains easy to navigate.
"Simple does not mean simplistic," Price says. "Our new site features the most cutting edge technology to make the recruiting of dentists, hygienists, assistants and office managers as efficient and cost effective as possible."
New features for employers include "ad history" and saving favorite resumes in "my favorites." Employers also can select by-pass email options, track activity on their job ads, monitor their own log activity, renew job ads automatically and archive previous job ads. Resumes can be sorted to reflect VISA status, experience level, relocation status and other criteria.
Another service employers find valuable is the automatic sorting of workers' resumes by city, state, zip code, driving radius and job title group. Dentalworkers.com then delivers the resumes by email to each employer. The resumes can be easily scanned, saved or deleted by the employer after using the "resume quick search" feature, which allows them to easily decide if a resume is acceptable.
The "resume quick search" sorts resumes by job title, work status, years of experience, whether the worker is left or right handed, VISA status and license status for dentists and. hygienists. Employers also can receive resumes for externs from local schools in their area.
Price says employers who use Dentalworkers.com usually need to interview fewer candidates before finding the right person to fill a position than if they had placed a newspaper ad. She says that by shortening the time it takes to search for a worker, a dental office can maintain productivity and realize significant savings.
"Every time a hygienist's chair is vacant, there is no production to be had," Price says. "If there is not an efficient front desk, the books are not being filled with patients. If there is not an efficient assistant helping the dentists, the operatory takes more time to turn over and do the procedures, which also hinders production."
Dentalworkers.com has processed more than 10,000 dental resumes. Dental professionals who have published resumes with Dentalworkers.com since June 1have had their resumes transferred over to the new site. All previous workers are encouraged to update their resumes on the new site if they continue to look for a permanent or temporary job. Failure to do this will result in the removal of their resumes from employers' searches on the new site. This policy ensures an updated database of resumes from serious workers who are actively looking for a job.
Prospective workers whose updates resumes are posted on Dentalworkers.com will be able to manage multiple resumes. They also can track job ads and responses in their "my favorites" folder as well as access a private availability calendar for temporary work.
Workers can then respond to temporary service offers from employers or staffing agencies for free. They also have the option to place their resumes as "premier placement," "bold," or "confidential" and write cover letters to employers.
New services offered to students include the placement of special externship resumes. They also can review externship opportunities from employers. While in school, Dentalworkers.com will ease the process of finding students externships in their geographic areas by delivering information on potential positions by email.
As an extra friendly feature for all Dentalworkers.com users, email addresses have taken the place of login names. Passwords are managed in the user's "my preferences"option.
Workers find that Dentalworkers.com simplifies their job search.
"Rami Nabors, a dental hygienist in Lakeland, Fl., says Dentalworkers.com exceeded her expectations when she was relocating from out of town.
"It's hard finding a job when you move from state to state, but Dentalworkers worked great for me, Nabors says. "It really cut down the amount of time it took to find a job!"
Dentalworkers serves as the job board for the American Dental Assistants Association, the Dental Assisting National Board, the American Student Dental Association and the American Association of Women Dentists.
