Academy of General Dentistry says plan for the future is underway

Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) members will assemble to attend the AGD2010: Innovation through Involvement Conference in Chicago, April 15-17, 2005. The AGD2010 Task Force (2010TF), a committee dedicated to rejuvenating the AGD and leading the association into the future, has been responsible for the preliminary work for the conference.

The AGD is going through a time of considerable change. To make knowledge-based decisions, the organization recently completed an abundance of market research. The 2010TF was charged with using the market research to draft core purpose and value statements, as wells as an audacious goal, which they used to draft planned outcomes and a new operational plan.

The AGD2010: Innovation Through Involvement Conference is the most anticipated part of the 2010TF process. All AGD members and stakeholders are invited to attend this event to provide the AGD with direction and make innovation a genuine priority. The aim of the AGD leadership is to revitalize an organization that is innovative by the involvement of all its members.

"The AGD is experiencing a strategic rebirth. It is creating a dynamic organization, providing even better services and benefits. This conference will invigorate and define the AGD more than any other event since its founding in 1952," says AGD president Thomas A. Howley, Jr., DDS, MAGD.

The AGD2010: Innovation through Involvement Conference expects to bring together 150-300 people and will allow any member of the AGD to have their voice heard.

"We are prepared to embrace the future and are laying the foundation for strategic change," says Gerald "Jay" Donohue, Jr., CAE, CMP, AGD's executive director.

"The members of the AGD are an extremely passionate group of general dentists," says Bruce DeGinder, DDS, MAGD, 2010TF chair. "They hope to set the ideals and core values of the organization through this conference."
