Precision Ceramics Dental Laboratory's Montclair, Calif., production facility has announced the receipt of its DAMAS registration. Mark Jackson, Co-owner and General Manager, commented, "We are very proud of this achievement. The first-class effort put out by our staff enabled us to achieve accreditation within just a few months and on our first attempt! It is important that we build on this achievement and continue to improve our Quality Management System. This is just another example of our caring and pledge to our customers to continually improve Precision Ceramics' products and service."
DAMAS (Dental Appliance Manufacturers Audit Scheme) is a quality management system which includes an international set of standards and management practices for consistently and accurately delivering products and services to meet the customers' requirements.
The requirements set forth in DAMAS are based upon the principles specified in ISO 9002. However, these principles have been adapted and simplified to meet the requirements of the Medical Devices Directive (MDD) and the Medical Devices Regulations (MDR) used in Europe, and they reflect the practical application of manufacturing dental appliances. Dental laboratories must undergo a rigorous certification process to obtain a DAMAS registration.
"Furthermore, consistency in the quality of our products, and the on-time delivery of those products, is our key commitment to our customers. The ISO certification process takes our quality management to higher standards set on a global scale. We are also very proud of the fact that we are only the second laboratory in the United States to achieve DAMAS certification," adds Mr. Jackson.
