Happy Wednesday, everyone! Developed in the 1960's, osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis (OOKP), also known as "tooth-in-eye" surgery, was performed in Canada for the first time last week. This rare procedure restores sight by removing and cutting a lamina of tissue from a patient's tooth, growing the lamina in their cheek, and later implanting it into their eye.
