LONG ISLAND CITY, New York--Sirona Dental Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-technology dental equipment, has introduced new software upgrades to its ORTHOPHOS XG Plus digital pan/ceph imaging system.
With this announcement, Sirona builds on its ORTHOPHOS technology to offer practitioners even greater functionality and efficiency in the areas of patient positioning and stabilization, diagnostics, radiation management, and workflow.
Specific software enhancements to the ORTHOPHOS XG Plus system include additional transversal slice acquisition (TSA) exposures for implant site assessment; an extension to the thick layer of anterior tooth region program P12; and, two new sinus programs.
The new TSA orientations now include three parallel longitudinal slices that follow the curved contour of the mandibular arch, and cross sectional (transaxial) slices similar to the classic TSA, but featuring a slice rotation of +/- ten degrees for the front and back slice. The third TSA addition combines the classic TSA slices with a longitudinal 5mm thick slice.
The additional TSA orientations are particularly useful in implantology, resulting in more accurate diagnostics and more comprehensive treatment planning. TSA from Sirona enables the practitioner to assess, diagnose, and plan treatment-- all at one time--resulting in lower radiation dose and cost to the patient.
"Since introducing our ORTHOPHOS XG Plus system in 1996, Sirona has continued to enhance its design, speed, intuitive technology, and functionality-- with all efforts focused on helping practitioners improve diagnostics, offer more treatment options, and provide better patient comfort and care," said John Smithson, Marketing Director-Imaging, for Sirona USA. "These significant enhancements, combined with the existing robust functionality, make the XG Plus digital pan/ceph unit one of the most technologically-advanced units on the market today."
Existing users of the ORTHOPHOS XG Plus can take advantage of the applicable new upgrades immediately. All XG Plus units sold after February 2007 include the new functionality.
