ROCHESTER, N.Y., August 17--Eastman Kodak Company today announced worldwide availability of a variety of innovative new software features that enhance the productivity and workflow of its Kodak DirectView CR 800 and CR 900 systems.
Kodak DirectView Remote Patient Data Entry Software (RPDES) allows patient demographic information to be entered from existing networked PCs equipped with Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. With this unique and easy-to-use software option, a PC located in the reception area can also function as a remote patient data entry station for the CR system. This new feature enhances technologists productivity by allowing clerical functions, such as patient data entry, to be conducted by administrative personnel. Competitive products often require a special workstation for patient data entry.
Host of Other New Features
Additional features provided by Kodak's latest CR software release include:
Kodak DirectView Remote Operations Panels (ROPs) can be configured to communicate with up to seven different Kodak CR 800 or CR 900 systems. This feature allows technologists to maximize productivity by selecting the most available CR system for image processing.
Multiformat printing allows technologists to print images two up landscape or four up portrait on a single sheet of film. Plus, consistent image size is achieved by printing all one-up images at a uniform reduction factor, regardless of the Kodak DryView Laser Imager selected.
A printer status screen will display the status of any printer accessible from Kodak CR 800 or 900 systems.
Customizable worklist displays enhance productivity and convenience. Users can configure the order in which patient records appear on the worklist screen (alphabetical, oldest first, or newest first) and direct which field has priority when the screen is first displayed.
The forward slash key can be programmed to support U.S. military accession numbers.
Field Upgrades For Existing Customers
The Kodak DirectView Remote Patient Data Entry Software carries a U.S. list price of $1,300. Other feature enhancements will be provided at no charge and can be upgraded to existing equipment during the next scheduled service call.
Features for the Japanese Market
The latest version of Kodak DirectView Image Processing Software also includes several optional features designed specifically for the Japanese market. The software enables communication between a Kodak DirectView CR 800 or CR 900 system and Japanese HIS/RIS systems or remote patient data entry devices in non-HIS/RIS environments.
Additional optional features now available include a Japanese user interface, multiple text ID choices (large, small, and Japanese), and a Japanese keyboard mounting kit for CR 800 installations.
Award-Winning CR 800 System
The award-winning Kodak DirectView CR 800 system features an innovative, space-saving design. All components needed for image processing, quality assurance (QA), and image handling/networking are contained in one ergonomically designed unit. This compact design allows CR units to be placed closer to patients, resulting in improved workflow and greater patient satisfaction.
The CR 800 system handles up to 65 cassettes per hour and can supply a fully processed image for quality assurance in less than 60 seconds (after cassette insertion). It permits images to be distributed over DICOM-compliant networks for soft-copy review, printing, and archiving. This compact system can improve productivity and patient care in distributed applications such as intensive-care units, emergency rooms, and remote clinics.
CR 900 System Provides High Throughput
The Kodak DirectView CR 900 system is a high-volume, centralized unit that streamlines workflow in busy radiology departments by allowing technologists to load eight cassettes at a time. Productivity is further enhanced with the implementation of one or more wall-mounted Kodak DirectView Remote Operations Panels that allow technologists in the examination room to enter patient/exam/cassette identification, check image quality, and reprocess (if needed) images before they are transmitted. Each CR 900 supports multiple exam rooms.
Kodak DirectView EVP Software, designed to optimize CR images by increasing latitude while preserving contrast and image detail, is available as an option for Kodak DirectView CR 800 and CR 900 systems.
About Health Imaging and Infoimaging
Kodaks Health Imaging Division is a leading participant in infoimaging, a $225 billion industry created by the convergence of image-and-information technology. The division develops, manufactures, and markets products for the capture, processing, presentation, distribution, and printing of health-related images and information. Among its products are picture archiving and communications systems, radiology information systems, computed radiography, digital radiography, teleradiology, laser imagers, desktop medical imagers, and traditional mammography and X-ray films. Health Imaging has annual revenues of more than $2 billion and has served the health-care industry for more than 100 years.
Infoimaging unites three closely related imaging markets that enable people to more easily take and share images as information: devices, such as computed radiography and digital radiography systems; infrastructure, such as networks; and services/media.
