Dental assistant fired after raising questions about needle disposal

The federal government is suing a Massachusetts dentist, claiming he fired a dental assistant after she raised concerns about the disposal of contaminated needles.

The U.S. Department of Labor, which oversees OSHA, filed the lawsuit under whistle-blower laws that protect employees who report violations. The lawsuit says the dental assistant should get her job back and be paid for lost wages, benefits, interest, and compensatory and punitive damages.
