Two Pennsylvania women have admitted in court that they performed dental work, including pulling teeth, drilling teeth, and even performing root canals, for which they were not licensed.

The two — Cheryl A. Laing, 46, and Jessica Gullickson, 24, both of Broomall, Pa. — also admitted using numbing agents and dispensing medication without taking patient histories concerning past procedures and allergies.

Laing, a licensed expanded-function dental assistant who reportedly told patients she was a dentist, and Gullickson, a receptionist who allegedly passed herself off as a dental assistant, both pleaded guilty to criminal charges that include theft by deception, recklessly endangering others and the unauthorized practice of dentistry.
