These dentists rock!

A glimpse at the GenR8Ters Band by Dr. Paul Feuerstein

Generation Next (genR8Tnext.com) has been a large force in the dental Internet arena. The normal thrust of the network is one of sharing dental information and helping one another with treatment planning and technique refinement. An extension of the online network is semiannual live meetings where face to face lectures and hands on workshops are the norm. Headed up by Mike Maroon, DMD, and a board of directors which is a who's who in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, the meetings have been an arena for both intense courses and of course, social events to see some of the "big shots" up close and personal.

This year, with the impetus of Ray Voller of Pennsylvania and Bruce Murphy of Ottawa (and former member of Men Without Hats), the GenR8Ters Band was formed for entertainment at the meetings. More importantly, it allowed many dentists and dental professionals to relive their previous lives as rock and roll players and singers. Songlists were set up and rehearsals were done via email, traded CDs and even phone conferences. On the weekend of August 17, about 20 people converged at Ray's home for a live rehearsal of the band. The article referenced here gives the details.
