Cosmetic dentistry continues to grow

American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry membership surpasses 7,000 mark.

The bright future of cosmetic dentistry, as evidenced in the recently published American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry - Levin Group survey, is underscored by the tremendous growth in the now 21-year old AACD.

Since 2000, AACD's membership has climbed from a little more than 4,000 members to now 7076 dental professionals in 60 countries worldwide.

AACD's Annual Scientific Session, the world's most comprehensive CE program specifically for cosmetic dentistry, has set record attendance numbers in consecutive years, with over 3,700+ dental professionals expected at next year's Pillars of Perfection, San Diego, CA from May 16-20, 2006.

The boom is also evident overseas, with new AACD affiliates forming in the United Kingdom, Sweden, New Zealand, and Iran, along with the foundation of the Canadian Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, in the past two years.

"These incredible numbers all point to the fact that AACD is the profession's leader in cosmetic dental education and information," said AACD President Nicholas Davis, DDS, of Newport Beach, CA.

More than 40 higher education academic institutions worldwide now participate in AACD's University Advisory Council, whose goal is to integrate cosmetic dental education in the curriculums of dental schools with an eye towards AACD's Accreditation standards.

Corporate interest in cosmetic dentistry also continues to flourish, as the Exhibit Hall at AACD Nashville 2005 sold out in record time while thirty enterprises patiently waited their turn to reach dentistry's hottest sector. Meanwhile, the consumer press continues to sizzle (circulation peaked at 40 million per month in 2004) with articles about the benefits of cosmetic dentistry targeted to the general public.

Membership in AACD is open to all dental professionals interested in advancing the art and science of cosmetic dentistry, including dentists, laboratory technicians, students, hygienists, researchers, and corporations. For those desiring to take their clinical treatments to next level, join the Academy and begin the path to excellence in cosmetic dentistry through Accreditation.
