Heraeus Kulzer takes its sales and technical staff to the dental chair

Unique, live training experience to be held in Las Vegas

When Heraeus Kulzer, Inc. the North American dental subsidiary of Hanau Germany-based Heraeus Kulzer, GmbH meets at the Palms Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, January 9-13, 2005 to discuss its debits, credits, and plans for the future, it will also offer its sales and technical teams an unusual training experience.

Although most dental industry sales and technical personnel receive extensive technical training on the use of their products and technologies, they rarely get the opportunity to watch them being used in a real time clinical situation.

That's why on January 11, Heraeus Kulzer will be hosting a special clinical demonstration at The Dental Implant Institute of Las Vegas, a state of the art dental facility at 6170 Desert Inn Road. This live demonstration will provide Heraeus personnel with advanced technical perspectives and product training by allowing them to directly observe how their company's restorative products are used in a clinical environment.

Two of the focus products for this demonstration are iBond Self Etch Dental Adhesive and Venus Microhybrid Restorative Composite.

iBond is the world's first, no mixing, 7th generation, self etching dental adhesive employing a powerful desensitizer (Gluma®) and patented 4-META resin chemistry. It is simple and fast to use, compatible with all light-cured composites, and halogen, LCD, and plasma-arc curing lights.

Venus™ is a new microhybrid composite system suitable for both anterior and posterior applications. In addition to excellent physical properties, it handles and sculpts easily and provides superb color-matching capability. It is easily finished and can be polished to a high luster.

The restorative procedures to be performed include a posterior direct composite and an anterior esthetic restoration to close a diastema; both of which can be completed in a single appointment using Heraeus Kulzer materials and techniques.

Heraeus Kulzer arranged for the demonstration at the Dental Implant Institute because of its cutting edge capabilities which include extraoral and intraoral cameras, video monitors and two-way wireless communication between the doctor and observers which enables real-time Q&A.

The clinical demonstration is the result of the collaboration of Dr. Mark Pitel and Dr. Dwyte Brooks. Dr. Pitel is the Director of Scientific and Clinical Affairs for Heraeus Kulzer and is currently Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinic Director for the Continuing Dental Education Aesthetics program at New York University.

Dr. Brooks is a prominent, Las Vegas dentist. He is the immediate Past-President of the Nevada Dental Association and member of the Dental Boot Camp faculty. Both are Fellows of the Academy of General Dentistry and have lectured extensively on the subject of restorative procedures and esthetic dentistry.

During the demonstration, Dr. Brooks will be performing the restorations while Dr. Pitel explains the procedures and fields questions from observers.

The patients will receive treatment free of charge. The two candidates will be selected from a variety of Nevada Dental Association-sponsored volunteer programs including One Day, Give Kids a Smile, or Clinic on Wheels.
