Dr. Christensen begins by asking, “What is incremental treatment?" Most patients cannot afford the huge payments of anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 to replace many teeth. Incremental treatment, or treatment spread out over time, might be the answer.

Dr. Christensen suggests taking an existing removal partial denture and placing a couple of implants. Give the patient up to a year or so and place another couple of implants. Then give the patient time to save up for two or three years toward a goal of two more implants and a fixed partial denture.

This allows the treatment plan to be carried out in increments the patient can afford, and allows the patient to receive treatment that will last him or her a lifetime, without collecting mountains of debit. Patients will thank you for your conservative approach, effective treatment, and regard for their financial situation.
