Merger between CRDTS and SRTA finalizing soon, according to recent press release
The Central Regional Dental Testing Service (CRDTS) and State Resources for Testing and Assessments (SRTA) are finalizing their merger, according to a recent CRDTS press release. Together, these two established testing agencies will operate under the CRDTS governing structure and official governing documents.1
Although students taking both the SRTA and CRDTS examinations will continue to do so as currently administered, the CRDTS+SRTA organization will "combine examiners and incorporate the knowledge and skillset of the SRTA leadership into that of the CRDTS leadership" for those taking exams in 2026 and beyond.1
The aim of this merger is to provide the best in dental and dental hygiene exam administration, with both staff members and dentists viewing the decision as an opportunity to further the dental profession. In their press release, CRDTS noted that they are dedicated to ensuring the safety of the public and the future of dentistry.1
Charles Holt, former president of SRTA, stated that: "The SRTA leadership is excited to come together with CRDTS. The combined efforts of CRDTS and SRTA will give the states, schools, and candidates an enhanced option for licensure testing. Both agencies have a similar philosophy and are striving to be the best testing agency now and in the future."
Otto W. Dohm, current president of CRDTS, shares a similar viewpoint. He said: "I am privileged to have been part of this merger. It is gratifying to see two organizations with such similar values and goals come together to provide a current and valid test that meets the needs of state licensing agencies while at the same time providing a fair standardized test in a respectful and efficient way to potential licensees."
