Periodontology academy installs new officers

Five officers appointed at American Academy of Periodontology's recent annual meeting.

The American Academy of Periodontology installed five officers during its 91st annual meeting in Denver.

The new president of the Academy is Kenneth A. Krebs, DMD. Krebs has been a member for more than 35 years and maintains a private periodontal practice in Chicago.

Krebs takes over following the term served by Vincent J. Iacono, DMD. Iacono has been a member of the AAP for more than 30 years, and is professor and chairman of the Department of Periodontics and director of the Advanced Education Program in Periodontics at the School of Dental Medicine, Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y. He will serve as the AAP's past president for the coming year.

Preston D. Miller, Jr., D.D.S., is the new president elect. He maintains a private periodontal practice in Memphis, Tenn.

Susan Karabin, DDS, is vice president. She maintains a private periodontal practice in New York and is an assistant clinical professor at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery.

David Cochran, DDS, PhD, MMSc is the new secretary/treasurer. He is a professor and chair of the Department of Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science.
