Product is a stain-removing, breath-freshening foam formula.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania--GlaxoSmithKline has introduced Aquafresh isoactive Whitening, a new toothpaste proven to reduce the major components of oral malodor and to remove stains, even from hard-to-reach areas.

With a gel-to-foam action, Aquafresh iso-active Whitening is formulated with fluoride to clean, freshen, and protect against caries.

The product's iso-active technology means that its gel formula is transformed upon brushing into a microfine expanding foam, which generates twice the foam volume as ordinary toothpaste.

The foam contains thousands of microscopic bubbles that penetrate hard-to-reach places in the oral cavity, dispersing the active ingredient around the mouth and covering tooth surfaces.

Aquafresh iso-active Whitening has been shown to remove significantly more bacteria from the oral cavity compared with regular toothpaste. As part of a normal oral hygiene routine, Aquafresh iso-active Whitening was shown in one head-to-head clinical study to remove three times more bacteria than ordinary toothpaste after a single 60-second brushing.

For an additional breath-freshening benefit, the product delivers a reduction in levels of volatile sulfur compounds--a primary component of oral malodor. Oral malodor is a common condition that can affect up to 50% of the population at some time.

Eating, drinking alcohol, oral hygiene, and sleep are influencing factors. Digestive or metabolic disorders can also play a role. But, for about 90% of people, the cause of oral malodor originates in the mouth and results from bacterial activity that produces VSCs such as hydrogen sulphide, methyl mercaptan, and dimethyl sulfide.

In addition to its benefits for patients' breath, data also demonstrates that the product's formulation helps it remove stains, even from hard-to-reach places between the teeth.

In studies, Aquafresh iso-active Whitening has been shown to remove significantly more stain overall, and to provide 33% more stain removal from interproximal surfaces than non-whitening toothpaste. It also helps reduce the formation of new stains.
