ROCK HILL, South Carolina--KOMET USA's crown prepping carbides will soon be offered in new shapes and sizes.
The Crown Prepping Carbides will be available in the following shapes/sizes: H856U.016, H379U.023, H846KRU.014/016, H847KRU.014/016, H837KRU.014/016, H878KU.014/016 and H881U.012/014/016.
This flexibility allows dentists who perform more traditional crown preparations the instruments they need to help accomplish a more successful procedure.
These instruments will be available to the U.S. dental market on April 1, 2009.
Previously, the crown prepping carbides were only offered in three sizes: the flat-ended bur H837KRU (2 sizes) designed for shoulder preps, and the round-ended bur H881U (1 size), which is more suited to create chamfer preps.
The crown prepping carbides allow for precise and controlled tooth reduction while providing a finished surface comparable to that achieved by using a diamond finisher. Designed in conjunction with Donald J. Alexander, DDS, of Jacksonville, Fla., the carbides provide quick and smooth chatter-free cut patterns.
The residual finish allows for gross and finish work to be accomplished using the same instrument. Also, the tips were engineered to match up precisely with the required chamfer or shoulder prep design depending on the desired material.
The instruments provide a fast and precise controlled tooth reduction resulting in a finished surface much better than one completed with a super coarse diamond instrument. With the finish left by these prepping instruments, there is no need for an additional finishing instrument.
