Futar bite registration materials allow practitioners to choose the appropriate material to fit their particular needs.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California--The line of Futar bite registration materials is ready for its formal introduction into the U.S. dental market.

The Futar family: Futar, Futar D, Futar D Fast, Futar D Slow and Futar Scan – are being sold by Kettenbach LP.

Futar bite registration materials allow practitioners to choose the appropriate material to fit their particular needs. The Futar line helps whether a practitioner is looking for a high final hardness rating, comfortable working times or a "scannable" material. In fact, Futar D is the No. 1 selling bite registration material in Germany, according to GFK records.

Futar
Futar is the original bite registration from Kettenbach with Shore-A hardness of 90. Futar not only sets quickly, but can also be conveniently milled and cut with a scalpel. Excess material can be broken off, and the correct occlusal position checked in the mouth. The upper and lower jaw models can be precisely assigned. The working time is 30 seconds with an intraoral setting time of 1 minute, 30 seconds.

Futar D
Futar D has an ultra-rigid Shore-D hardness of 43. The material is thixotropic and will not run into the interproximal spaces, making it easier to remove. The material cures with a high-luster finish and has permanent dimensional stabilit. This all but eliminates the risk of deformation and minimizes the possibility of changes during its shipment to the laboratory. The final hardness enables the clinician or technician to grind it with an acrylic bur or cut it with a scalpel when modifications are needed. The working time for Futar D is 30 seconds with an intraoral setting time of 1 minute, 30 seconds. Futar D was rated 4 stars for 2005 by REALITY.

Futar D Fast
With the same formulation and ultra-rigid Shore-D hardness of 43 as Futar D, Futar D Fast's only difference is a faster setting time. It can also be dispensed with little effort, saving the user valuable time. Its working time is 15 seconds with an intraoral setting time of 45 seconds, making the total set time one minute.

Futar D Slow
Futar D Slow has a longer working time. Thanks to its working and setting time, Futar D Slow offers the practitioner comfort while work is done on fixing impression posts in implantology, myocentric bite registration and margin design. Because of its Shore-D hardness of 43, a technician mounting the models can be assured a correct articulation. Its working time is 1 minute, 30 seconds with an intraoral setting time of 3 minutes, 30 seconds.

Futar Scan
With a Shore-D hardness of 35, Futar Scan can be used with CAD/CAM systems because it is optimized for optical and laser registration, respectively. Futar Scan stands out because of its scan results. Its optical properties ensure recording quality and image replication. The development of Futar Scan is the result of efforts by Kettenbach with market-tested software. Its working time is 15 seconds, with an intraoral set time of 45 seconds.
