The new 3M Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing System creates a diamond paste–like gloss with the convenience of a rubberized system.
Direct restorations offer the unique challenge of balancing esthetics with productivity, and the tools used to finish and polish can have a significant impact in this equation. With traditional rubber points, cups, discs, and brushes, achieving an esthetic result can be difficult and take time. And with diamond paste, the polishing procedure can be messy and involve extra steps. To create a simple and effective two-step polishing option, 3M has developed the Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing System. The system imparts diamond paste–like gloss with the convenience of a rubberized system.
The Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing System contains two spirals: The Sof-Lex Pre-Polishing Spiral (beige) smooths and removes scratches in restorations that develop during contouring and prepares the surface for final polishing. The Sof-Lex Diamond Polishing Spiral (pink) is embedded with diamond particles to deliver a gorgeous paste-like gloss. The flexible spirals adapt to all tooth surfaces—anterior and posterior, convex and concave—and can be used from any angle. The spirals can also be sterilized and reused.
The system is designed to work together with 3M ESPE Filtek Supreme Ultra Universal Restorative to provide an easy esthetic outcome. The new polishing system maximizes 3M’s nanocomposite technology, resulting in restorations that achieve and maintain a high gloss.
“We know that creating esthetic restorations can be time-consuming and demanding,” said Nikki McKeon, US marketing manager for direct restoratives. “With this new esthetic restoration solution, you’ll love how simple it is to create natural-looking restorations with a gorgeous paste-like gloss.”
