Roadway Express gives free ride to children's dental clinic
Roadway Express, Inc. and Christina's Smile Children's Dental Clinic kick off their 13th year of providing quality dental care to children from inner cities, in homeless shelters, and from uninsured, working poor families. Traveling to more than 20 communities across the United States annually, Christina's Smile has provided more than $10 million in free dental care to 32,000 children since 1990.
Founded by Dr. Richard R. Garza, of Austin, Texas, Christina's Smile follows the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour from city-to-city throughout the tour season, providing free dental care to impoverished children within these communities.
Roadway Express donated two 48-foot trailers to be transformed into mobile clinics, each equipped with three dental treatment stations, X-ray equipment, and an instrument sterilization area. Roadway Express moves and maintains the trailers free of charge.
"Christina's Smile is providing charitable dentistry to thousands of children each year who otherwise would not have access to dental care," said Dr. Garza. "This mission requires many partners, and we are fortunate that Roadway Express has been a significant partner in helping these children attain healthier, happier smiles."
According to Bob Stull, president of Roadway Express, the company is proud of its role in Christina's Smile. "Roadway Express is dedicated to the education and health needs of children and young people," said Stull. "We've partnered with Christina's Smile because the program offers a creative approach to a long-standing problem."
