Program will provide dental services to all ages of Anne Arundel County residents who are restricted from dental care because of a lack of financial resources and transportation.

DENTSPLY Pharmaceutical Division has been named the corporate partner with eight Rotary International Clubs in Anne Arundel County, Md., in a program to provide dental services to all ages of County residents who are restricted from dental care because of a lack of financial resources and transportation.

DENTSPLY Pharmaceutical Division and the Rotary Clubs together have funded a van to assist the Anne Arundel County Health Department dentists and staff to provide mobile dentistry care beginning this fall. The health department reports that nearly two-thirds of all children in the county go without annual check ups and numerous senior citizens are denied dental care because of transportation related problems.

In addition to help funding the van, DENTSPLY Pharmaceutical Division is also assisting the health department with mobile dental equipment and supplies.

According to Thomas G. Leonardi, vice president and general manager of DENTSPLY Pharmaceutical Division, "We are pleased to be the official corporate partner to help meet the dental health care needs of the residents of Anne Arundel County. We are hopeful that this project will be the model for similar programs across the country and even around the world. We look forward to being a key part of this program's expansion."

Any Baum, Rotary District Governor said, "This opportunity for Rotary to partner with DENTSPLY, an international dental products organization, has created the potential for many less fortunate people to receive quality dental care. With Rotary's history of humanitarian aid combined with the dental expertise of DENTSPLY, projects like this become a reality."
