Target: Low-income children

The National Children's Oral Health Foundation and PreViser announce initiative to reduce oral disease among disadvantaged populations.

The National Children's Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF) and PreViser Corporation today announced a joint initiative to collaborate in an effort to improve the oral health of low-income children nationwide.

The NCOHF, whose nonprofit mission is to eliminate oral disease and promote the overall health and well-being of economically disadvantaged children, and PreViser Corporation, the international leader in evidence-based quantification of oral disease risk, will cooperate in providing PreViser analytic services to affiliate clinics of the NCOHF. The intent of the initiative is to improve the targeting of care resources to those underserved children at greatest risk of disease based on analysis by PreViser technology.

NCOHF affiliate clinics provide care to low-income children. Under the announced initiative, the clinics will use PreViser technology to assist in providing care most appropriate to a child's individual needs as determined by objective PreViser risk scores.

To facilitate this process, PreViser Corporation has made a donation of $1.2 million in assessment technology that will be used by NCOHF clinics.

PreViser CEO Carl F. Loeb stated: "We are pleased to be able to partner with an organization that is as dedicated to oral health as the NCOHF. There is a great deal of work to be done to improve both the access to and the quality of care for economically disadvantaged children. Oral disease is not just about cavities, but involves general health concerns that can have a great deal of impact on the degree to which children develop into their potential. We hope this grant of our technology will help the NCOHF in achieving results in this important area of our nation's health."

Fern K. Ingber, president and CEO of the NCOHF, stated: "We are so appreciative of PreViser's extraordinary leadership gift. What a wonderful and valuable asset for the members of our growing national Affiliate Network. This important contribution will enable NCOHF pediatric facilities to significantly enhance their ability to serve the critical oral health needs of our nation's most vulnerable children."

PreViser Corporation, based in the state of Washington, provides Web-enabled diagnostic decision support tools for dentists and dental hygienists. The PreViser Oral Health Information Suite™ enables quick, accurate, reproducible, and objective analysis of oral disease risk in an easy-to-understand format for the dental professional and the patient.

The National Children's Oral Health Foundation, based in Charlotte, N.C., is exclusively focused on supporting the direct delivery of oral health services to underserved children to eliminate debilitating pain and too often lifetime problems resulting from untreated oral disease. NCOHF strategically coordinates and delivers the necessary resources to enable community-based pediatric oral health facilities to expand and enhance their clinical and educational capacity.
