Dr. Sindelar hopes to help grow AAOSH’s membership and reach, expand the relationship between AAOSH and the Cleveland Clinic Wellness programs, and move forward with an AAOSH certification program. He also announced that the 2013 Scientific Session will be held in Las Vegas, Nev.
Dr. Sindelar is a practicing dentist who has served the St. Louis, Mo., area since 1981, when he graduated from the Washington University School of Dental Medicine. He has become a leader in the oral-systemic health movement, which emphasizes the relationship between oral health and systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Dr. Sindelar is proud to become the next president of AAOSH.
“We are now transitioning from the era of cosmetics into the era of health and wellness,” he said.
Dr. Sindelar offers comprehensive wellness exams in his practice—including cancer screening, advanced salivary diagnostics, antioxidant testing, and home sleep studies—instead of just the traditional periodontal exam.
The dental industry has always been about prevention. With new research coming out daily on the correlation between oral health and chronic disease, Dr. Sindelar believes it is not only possible but also essential that dentists step into the role of disease prevention specialists.
The American Academy for Oral Systemic Health is a group of health-care professionals dedicated to promoting the relationship between oral health and overall health.
