Anatomically correct edentulous impression trays
These autoclavable Border-Lock® trays are made of reusable material - Ryton® Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS), which provides high dimensional stability at elevated temperatures. Special horizontal slits along the border of the tray provide an excellent locking mechanism for the impression material. The tray’s rigidity has been scientifically tested and proven suitable for making precision impressions. A characteristic of these trays is that they have a “metal sound.”
The trays have been designed specifically for both the monophase and sandwich impression techniques. Alginates, silicones, and polyether impression materials may be used. It is not necessary to use an adhesive with elastomers or polyethers. For particularly difficult impression cases, you may select the adhesive suggested by the impression material manufacturer.
Disinfect the impression according to the impression material manufacturer’s instructions. The border-lock trays can withstand a maximum temperature of 600˚ F, and are suitable for sterilization in an autoclave.

New crown prep tool helps ensure accuracy and fit
Common Sense Dental’s PrepCheck tabs are equipped with a special coating that marks the tooth in areas that need to be reduced. PrepCheck promotes adequate reduction allowing for the ideal thickness of the final restoration, and it ensures superior strength and esthetics. This prep-marking system can increase accuracy and promote better fit for all types of crown preps.
PrepCheck tabs come in three sizes - 1 mm for gold crown, 1.5 mm for PFM, and 2 mm for nonmetal. Use PrepCheck in three simple steps: 1) prepare crown prep as usual and select size; 2) ask patient to bite on the PrepCheck tab. Do not pull or tug on the tab. A properly prepared tooth will resist tug even if occlusal reduction is adequate; 3) look at the occlusal contacts on adjacent teeth. These should appear to occlude when the tab is in place. If the occlusal contacts do not meet, adequate reduction has not been achieved. Remove the tab and reduce areas that are marked by the special coating on PrepCheck tabs.

Vacuum for aerosols and infection control
DentAirVac Corporation, the originator of “at source” dental aerosol evacuators, introduces its newest DAV System VI. The DAV VI is designed to capture and filter external aerosols as they escape the oral cavity during various dental procedures. Its powerful vacuum targets particulate finer than 25 microns, entrains these potentially hazardous miasmic aerosols, and redirects them away from the immediate breathing area into a hands-free, three-inch diameter intake hose. The aerosols are taken through a series of filters, including a HEPA filter for particulates to 0.3 microns, and a granulated carbon filter chemically activated to bind dental specific odors and vapors. The DAV VI’s castered footprint is a mere 12 x 12 x 15 inches and weighs only 30 pounds, but it has as much suction as previous DentAirVac systems sold worldwide for the past 14 years. Distributor inquiries are welcome.

A-dec® ICX® revolutionizes waterline treatment
ICX from A-dec is a new product targeting an issue that has challenged the industry for decades - waterline maintenance. Backed by A-dec’s 40 years of infection-control innovations, ICX offers a unique and effective way to maintain clean dental unit waterlines (DUWL). ICX is in the form of an effervescent tablet, so it’s easy to use and saves valuable time in the dental office. Using ICX is as simple as adding one tablet to an empty self-contained water bottle before filling. As the tablet dissolves, it releases ingredients into the water that help prevent the buildup of deposits and contaminants. ICX tablets come in self-dispensing packets for either 0.7-liter or 2-liter water bottles, so there’s no measuring, mixing, or cleanup required.
Best of all, the patented formulation of ICX continues working in the system after each treatment, protecting waterlines from further contamination and reducing or possibly eliminating the need for frequent waterline shock treatments. ICX is odorless and is not harmful to patients or dental equipment, giving peace of mind to both patient and practice.
A-dec also utilizes AlphaSan® antimicrobial tubing in its self-contained water system for use with dental syringes, handpieces, ancillary devices, and cuspidors. When used properly, and in conjunction with ICX, the antimicrobial AlphaSan contained in the waterline system will control microbial contamination.
