Heraeus Kulzer to introduce Next™ Endodontic Obturating System at Chicago Midwinter

Next™ is a complete kit that streamlines the process of performing a root canal for endodontists and general practice dentists alike.

Heraeus Kulzer, Inc. the North American dental subsidiary of Hanau Germany-based Heraeus Kulzer, GmbH will be launching its NextTM Endodontic Obturating System during this year's Chicago Midwinter Dental Meeting on February 25, 2005. Next™ is a complete kit that streamlines the process of performing a root canal for endodontists and general practice dentists alike. This is achieved thanks to advanced materials and an innovative two-in-one post/obturator system.

Specifically, the NextTM System allows dentists to obturate and seal the canal in a simple step. A rigid or adaptable obturator serves as support for the root and, in some cases, a post for restorations. The ResilonTM * is integrated into the post and bonds with a resin cement to create a hermetic seal preventing leakage.

Obturation is achieved through the application of Heraeus Kulzer's biocompatible resin sealer. Since the obturator can also serve as a post or pin, root canals with restorations can be handled in one visit instead of the two required with traditional root canal methods.

The NextTM System uses a resin luting cement to seal the canals against bacterial contamination. The seal is strengthened with ResilonTM, which chemically bonds to both the cement and tooth. This ensures a hermetic seal; preventing microorganisms and fluids from passing from the oral cavity into the root canal.

Because no two root canals are alike, the NextTM System includes an adaptable obturator with an extended length of ResilonTM (a revolutionary soft resin polymer) positioned at the end of a flexible, high-strength glass fiber.

In challenging curved root cases, the NextTM tapered obturator can be inserted into the canal as far as possible. The added length of ResilonTM will conform to the curve and support the root, while adding hydraulic pressure for a hermetic apical seal.
