Robert S. Ledley, DDS, a dentist and biomedical researcher, died on July 24, 2012, in Kensington, Md. Dr. Ledley invented the first full-body CT scanner. The prototype was called Automatic Computerized Transverse Axial.
Dr. Ledley was an advocate of computer use in medicine and the founding fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics.
