Mother and adopted daughter travel to Paraguay with 100 pounds of toothbrushes in tow

Traveling with 100 pounds of toothbrushes and Bibles, Monroe senior Felicia Shadwick and her mom, Beth, spent two weeks teaching the locals in Caazapa, Paraguay, the importance of dental hygiene, and meeting Felicia’s biological family.
“This was our first trip back to Paraguay since we adopted Felicia,” said Beth Shadwick, Felicia’s adoptive mom and a dental hygienist in West Chester Twp.
The two women stuffed the two suitcases to their 50-pound limit. Each bag was meticulously packed with toothbrushes donated by Dr. Steven Shadwick and children’s activity books, which were donated by Procter & Gamble. A stack of Bibles also made the trip. It was the Shadwick’s third trip to the country in the past seven years.
