Alumni of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Dentistry, as well as alumni of Chicago dental schools no longer in existence, Loyola University's and Northwestern University's schools of dentistry, are invited to attend the UIC College of Dentistry Reunion 2006.
The reunion will be held at the Hotel Inter-Continental, 505 N. Michigan Ave., on Feb. 24, 2006, during the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting. A free cocktail reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will follow at 8 p.m. The cost of dinner will be $95.
Reunion 2006 will feature special recognition for members of classes whose graduation years ended in a "6" or a "1," and for emeritus alumni—those who graduated more than 50 years ago. Dr. Bob Ficek, UIC '62, and wife, Jean, are once again chairs of the Reunion.
Reunion attendance has been large in recent years. Dean Bruce Graham has encouraged more faculty to participate, and younger alumni have attended in increasing numbers, too.
The dinner also will feature presentations of several awards.
Dr. Franklin S. Weine, UIC '57, will receive the Distinguished Dental Alumnus Award. Dr. Peter A. Paesani, UIC '56, will be presented the F. William Towner Organized Dentistry Activity Award. Dr. James H. Bryniarski, UIC '78, Clinical Assistant Professor, Restorative Dentistry, has earned the E. Lloyd Du Brul Faculty Achievement Award. Dr. Cissy K. Furusho, UIC '96, Pedo '98, MS '00, will be honored with a University of Illinois Alumni Association Loyalty Award. Dr. Gene Romo, UIC '97, will receive the President's Leadership Award.
For many years, Dr. Weine was a faculty member at the Loyola University Chicago School of Dentistry, and Dr. Paesani for many years was a faculty member at the Northwestern University School of Dentistry, so Loyola and Northwestern alumni are urged to consider attending the UIC Reunion to see these faculty receive their awards.
Table seating will be by class year. There also will be tables for Loyola University and Northwestern University alumni. Color photos will be taken of all classes, and purchase information will be provided later.
