Phillips Oral Healthcare Expands Training Portfolio With New On-line CE Courses

April 21, 2003
Five fully accredited courses available at www.sonicare.com/professionals.

Building upon its recently introduced i care initiative that seeks to partner with dental professionals to achieve better oral healthcare for patients, Philips Oral Healthcare is now offering five new AGD accredited Continuing Education (CE) courses available at www.sonicare.com/professionals. These courses resulted from presentations given at Philips Oral Healthcare's 2003 "Emerging Trends in Oral Care" Symposium in January. Attended by 85 leading dental hygienists from all around the globe, the event provided dental hygienists a valuable forum for networking and education.

This is the first time Philips Oral Healthcare has offered on-line CE courses to dental professionals. This new on-line offering comes as a result of Philips Oral Healthcare's commitment to providing dental professionals with the resources and tools needed to help improve their patients' oral health. The courses are accessible by logging on to www.sonicare.com/professionals and creating a username and password. The "New i care On-line Learning Forum" link will provide background and access information to the five CE courses, where interested dental professionals can view courses via Web cast videos. Upon completion of each course, dental professionals are asked to complete a corresponding quiz and print a certificate, which will allow them to redeem one credit for each course. The five on-line CE courses offered are:

Moving Toward a New Kind of Dentistry, Dr. Joel Berg
Battling Biofilms, Dr. Bill Costerton
Sonic Technology, Dr. Chris McInnes
Fluid Dynamics, Dr. Paul Stoodley
The Elite® Difference, Gail Bemis-Stoops, RDH

"We've expanded our training offerings to benefit dental professionals by making these courses available on-line," said Frank McGillin, Vice President of Marketing. "We're happy to make this resource available to help dental professionals stay ahead of the curve and move their careers forward. Now they can do that without even leaving their office or home."

Recently, Philips Oral Healthcare notified dental hygienists via email of this new on-line offering, and was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Eighty-eight percent of dental hygienists who have visited the site have already logged on to earn their CE credits.
